Uses of LED light-emitting diodes of different colors

Some LED light-emitting diode products, especially the light-emitting diodes on flashlights, have different beam colors. This is not about using hidden mechanisms to make them look beautiful. Different light colors have different applications. Here is a brief introduction to the most common colors and their practical uses.

White light has perfect color characteristics, but it will damage the vision that adapts to dark light. It takes a certain amount of time to re-adapt after a certain light source is extinguished.

Red light is usually used for night vision. The red light does not cause your pupils to shrink too much and your eyes do not need to re-adapt to the darkness once the red light goes out. Red is also often used as a "safe" color in monochrome photo processing because it will not damage the negative being printed.

Yellow light has some advantages of red light and white light. Another advantage of yellow light is that when you read, it reduces the reflection and dazzling light that causes eye fatigue due to long reading.

Green light can also be used for night vision, and green light is especially suitable for reading maps or charts at night. It is not so easy to be spotted by night vision equipment, so it is easy to be spotted by human eyes. The brightness of green light is lower than that of red light.

Blue light can be used to read maps at night and is generally favored by military personnel because blue light increases the level of contrast. It can also be used as a background work light color in theaters and performances.

Blue-green light has night vision advantages similar to green light and blue light, but with the improvement of the color characteristics of blue-green light, some users prefer to use blue-green light for this reason.

Infrared red light is used with night vision equipment. Otherwise, human eyes cannot see infrared light.

Ultraviolet light is usually used to identify whether banknotes are forged or not. Some ultraviolet light-emitting diode illuminators are very popular in nightclubs and parties. They are used to make fluorescent materials emit brighter light.
